I found this article a few months ago before landing in Thailand and wanted to put it to the test.

I’m not saying this is 100% fact, I did not attend Harvard :P and we know there is a lot of nonsense on the internet so I am simply doing this for fun and the challenge.

“Why Men Who Can Do 40 Pushups May Have Better Heart Health” Article link - https://www.livescience.com/64789-pushups-men-heart-health.html

Some excerpts from the article:

‘The study tested the stamina of middle-aged male firefighters. It found that those who could do more than 40 pushups in a row had a 96 percent lower risk of being diagnosed with heart disease or experiencing other heart problems over a 10-year period, as compared with those men who could do fewer than 10 push ups.’

The study was published Feb. 15 in the journal JAMA Network Open. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2724778

“Physicians know that being physically fit is linked with better heart health. But it can be difficult for doctors to accurately assess a person's fitness level during a routine visit. Doctors sometimes use "treadmill tests" to evaluate a person's fitness level. In these evaluations, people run on a treadmill until their heart rate reaches a certain level. But the tests are time-consuming and require expensive equipment, so they aren't done routinely.”

“More research is now needed to examine the link between pushup ability and heart disease in the general population, including among women and less-active men, the researchers noted in their paper.”

So I am putting out a challenge to my fellow men… AND women! :) How many pushups can you do in a row?? Will this make you like or dislike pushups more? Will you be happy/surprised with how many you can do?

Let me know how many you got I’d love to know, no judgement here at all. Make sure to use proper form too, no loosey goosey pushups accepted :D

Video evidence is a plus ;)
